How Do I Set Up My Templates in HomeBinder?

Learn how to set up your own templates for customized maintenance reminders, standard documents, and trusted home professionals in HomeBinder.

To set up your templates, log into your account and go to the Customization tab. Click on “Options” then “Edit” to modify your Binder Templates. You’ll find six default maintenance items: Change HVAC, Smoke Alarm Batteries, Clean Gutters, Service Heating System, Dryer Vent Line, and Replace Washer Water Line. You can use them as-is or customize them to your preference.

If you’d like to further modify the templates, here’s how you can adjust specific sections:

Maintenance Items

Here you can add the maintenance tasks you'd like to remind your clients about, such as changing air filters or cleaning dryer vents. Feel free to customize these tasks based on what’s relevant to your business and local area.

Set Due Dates

For tasks that aren't seasonal, you can set reminders to go out a certain number of days after an inspection. For example, if you want to remind clients to change their air filter quarterly, you could set a due date for 90 days after the last inspection.

For seasonal tasks, you can set specific due dates. For instance, if you want to remind clients to clean their gutters once a year, you could set the due date for October 20th. Note:  Don’t  include the year to avoid the date expiring.

Appliances

Here you can create blank records for clients to easily add their appliance information, such as manufacturer and model numbers. You can also add helpful notes, like the expected  life of an appliance.

Home Professionals

Here, you can recommend trusted home professionals. It’s a great idea to provide multiple options for services, like local plumbers, so homeowners can choose the best fit for their needs.

Documents

Use this section to upload documents that all your clients might find useful. This could include referral documents, educational materials, checklists for final walk-throughs, or even discounts for home professionals. Be sure to include a personalized message in the ‘Notes’ section. Make it welcoming and reflective of your business's personality!
